Train To Gain
Learner Eligibility (Employed)
In general learners are funded on the basis of meeting certain eligibility criteria but in general they must not already hold a Level 2 qualification. The overall aim of the programme is to help those employees without the equivalent of 5 GCSE’s (Grades A-C) already. Learners who are studying of already hold any of the following qualifications or a higher level qualification, are not be eligible for ‘Train to Gain’ funding – please note this list is not exhaustive.
School / College Qualifications Vocational (work related) Qualifications
- 5 GCSE’s (grades A-C) or ‘O’ Levels BEC General Certificate / Diploma with Credit
- 5 CSE Grade 1’s Edexcel / BTEC 1st Diploma or higher
- C & G Higher Operative or Craft
- 1 or more ‘A’ Levels GNVQ Intermediate or higher
- 2 AS Levels Access Course
Self Employed
“Self employed workers (defined as being an individual responsible for their own tax and national insurance contributions, working independently, or for a company on a self employed basis), are eligible to participate in Train to Gain, providing they satisfy the normal learner eligibility rules. This applies to both self-employed individuals working at/for an employer and self-employed individuals who are not based with an employer”. |
